It's been raining aliens in India... A microscopic Invasion!

In July of 2001 blood-red colored rain began to fall over Kerala, India and continued in bursts over the next two months. The crimson rain, burned the leaves of trees, and turned people's clothes pink. Initial investigations into the phenomena suggested the rain was red because winds had swept up dust from Arabia and dumped it on Kerala, but upon further investigation of the liquid using a microscope it became apparent that there were no dust particles at all... Just a strange "bacteria-like material" which contained no DNA as we know it.

Physicist Godfrey Louis, from the Mahatma Gandhi University in Kottayam concluded that "the rain was made up of bacteria-like material that had been swept to Earth from a passing comet". While many researchers are downplaying his conclusion, others believe that he may be on to something and are taking the time to follow-up on his work. A microbiologist at Sheffield named Milton Wainwright, is re-testing samples of the red rain. "It is too early to say what's in the phial," he said. "But it is certainly not dust. Nor is there any DNA there, but then alien bacteria would not necessarily contain DNA."

Some scientists have long theorized that life on Earth originated and evolved from microbes that had been brought to earth by way of comets, so this may not be the first time it has rained aliens here on Earth. So is this a microscopic invasion, or are we invaders ourselves?
