Go See Harry Potter & the Goblet of Fire
11/27 - I thoroughly enjoyed this film (and I think anyone who spends the time to read my SciFi blog would too). Unlike the first two films and a few scenes in Prisoner of Azkaban, this did not attempt once to appeal solely to the younger children in the audience. It is as if J.K. Rowling and the WB the scriptwriters, appreciate that their audience is growing up with the characters (ok, so many of us are FAR older than the characters… what’s your point?) and expect the storylines to follow suit. In any case this film is geared for the teenage and young adult audience which is right where it should be.
The Goblet of Fire is a turning point in the series as the characters find themselves changing innocent wide-eyed children to adolescents. There are many a darker and more adult oriented themes interspersed throughout the plot, even a hint of sexual tension between Hermione and Ron. This change is reflected in the film, which was the first of the HP films to be rated as high as PG-13.
11/22 - I'm working on getting a proper review up. In the meantime, if you haven't already seen it, don't wait. Harry Potter & the Goblet of Fire is excellent! Although the movie rendition is greatly abbreviated, it remains faithful to the book, and the special effects are incredible.
This movie is worth the price of admission!
