Giant Lego Rebel Attack Cruiser for sale on eBay

Looking for the perfect Holiday gift for that die hard Star Wars fan on your list? Well look no further… this has got to be one of THE coolest things ever sold on eBay!.. for a mere $24,006.99 (As of Dec-14-05 12:44:33 PST, and there are still several days left on this auction) you can give the ULTIMATE Star Wars gift and it's all for a good cause, because you will also be making a sizable donation to the Habitat for Humanity's relief fund for survivors of Hurricanes Katrina and Rita. It’s a Win Win!

According to Forbes.com:

Lego Shop At Home, an online direct-shopping service of The Lego Company, is auctioning a staggering "toy" via e-commerce powerhouse eBay (nasdaq: EBAY - news - people ). It's billed as a "HUGE Lego one-of-a-kind Rebel Attack Cruiser" as seen in Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith.

One needn't be a mesmerized fan of the wildly lucrative movie franchise to be impressed by the plaything. In the auction's faux-nautical terminology, "stem to stern" the model is more than 8 feet long and 47 inches wide; it weighs over 150 pounds and is comprised of over 35,000 pieces. Sturdy as they are, Lego bricks--or simply "Legos," in kid parlance--are subject to stresses in works of this size. So the toy spaceship was constructed "around a steel armature that runs down the spine of the ship and includes a rolling steel display frame."

The auction also includes a framed certificate of authenticity, signed by George Lucas as well as the Lego builder who designed and assembled it for display at several national Lego events… Did I mention that this is, in my opinion, one of the coolest things ever sold on eBay!
