The Triangle – a SCIFI TV review

SCIFI Channel's The Triangle – MrSCIFI rated 4 of 5

"Set against the mysteries of the Bermuda Triangle, this three-night original miniseries focuses on a disparate group of professionals brought together to investigate the strange phenomena that occur in the ocean between Florida, Puerto Rico and Bermuda." - SCIFI Channel Website

UPDATED 12/5 - Part 1 has yielded several interesting mysteries. To recap the Nina, Pinta, and the Santa Maria sailed straight out of 1492 and almost right into the side of a cargo ship owned by an eccentric billionaire, who as it turns out has lost several of his cargo ships in the dubious region known as The Triangle. A disparate group of expert investigators is assembled and they begin to look into the long history of strange and unexplained happenings in The Bermuda Triangle as well as a couple of more recent incidents. A whaling ship and a Greenpeace boat are sunk by a mysterious fresh water event and a commercial plane crashes while trying to avoid a group of planes that appear to be the famous flight 19 which went missing in the triangle in 1945… Oh, and did I mention the one person who did NOT disappear in the plane crash is a six year old girl who aged 60 years in two hours. Whew, that was a lot for the first two hours! I can’t wait to see how they pull it all together in the next two episodes… Stay tuned!

UPDATED 12/7 - Parts 2 & 3 of SCIFI’s The Triangle continued to keep me guessing and moved at as fast a pace (if not faster) as part 1. As the team of expert investigators start to unravel the mysteries of The Bermuda Triangle it becomes clear to them that Triangles strange effects are growing in size, frequency, and range (spreading outside of the Triangle itself). More and more people begin experiencing, what is at first believed to be isolated memory loss, but begins to look more like alternate realities or random shifts into alternate timelines.

Ok without giving away the ENTIRE story line, I can say that this SCIFI miniseries touches on a bit of everything from wormholes and time travel to government conspiracies, talking with the dead, and natural disasters that threaten to end of the world as we know it.

My only complaint about the SCIFI channel’s miniseries The Triangle is that it seems to move way too fast. Every minute of the show is packed… while in some cases this is a good thing, I think that they could have spent a bit more time developing the characters and exploring the different theories on The Triangle easily stretching this miniseries into four or five episodes instead of just the three FULL episodes.
