Spiderman 3 adds Venom and others

A recent blog by Screenrant.com’s Vic Holtreman asks the question is Spiderman 3 Juggling Too Many Characters? Holtreman goes on to ask:

So how many characters can a superhero movie sustain and still give each enough screen time that we get to know and care about them?... Venom was confirmed a couple of days ago as was the addition of Gwen Stacy (to be played by Bryce Dallas Howard).

I agree, given Venom’s extensive history character depth, it would be a travesty (ok maybe travesty is a bit melodramatic… but it certainly would be unfortunate) if he wasn’t given adequate screen time to develop the character properly.

However, given the recent rumor that Spiderman 3 and Spiderman 4 will be filmed back to back, my guess is that Venom’s roll in Spiderman 3 will be more supporting cast than lead villain, and that the main purpose of his inclusion in 3 is as a setup for 4. Well lets hope anyway… we will just have to wait and see.
