Underworld: Evolution - All the makings of a SciFi Epic... Except actual story development.

Underworld: Evolution is a classic popcorn SciFi movie; The is plenty of action, special effects, tons of gore, and a latex clad heroin that is easy on the eyes to say the least. So it is easy to overlook the fact that between the special effects filled action sequences there is absolutely no story development. Underworld: Evolution delivers plotlines through a series of narrations and flashbacks without ever actually telling the story.

The good news is you can enjoy this movie, thanks to the aforementioned narrations, flashbacks, and special effects filled action sequences, even if you have never seen the first Underworld movie. The bad news is that Underworld: Evolution did have a great deal of story to tell and by the end of the movie you really begin to feel like you are being spoon fed story information rather than discovering it throughout the story leaving you feeling slightly detached and emotionally uninvolved in what could otherwise be an riveting action filled finally.

Overall I would rate this a 3 out of 5 mostly thanks to the lovely Kate Beckinsale, plays the latex clad Selene. So if you have a decent home entertainment system, I would recommend putting it on you Netflix wait list and holding out for the DVD release.
