The Year Ahead - a look at the 2006 SCIFI Movies lineup

Happy New Year SCIFI fans! Now that 2005 is officially over and we have all had a few days to reflect on the year gone by (and fully recover from our new years party hang-overs), I thought it would be nice to take a look at 2006 and see what new SCIFI movies we have to look forward to in this New Year.

Fear not because the major studios have begun announcing their 2006 movie releases and we have a lot of SCIFI action to look forward to, 2006 is chalk full of SCIFI movies and supernatural thrillers! Checkout the following highlights:

Sony

Underworld: Evolution - the long awaited sequel opens Jan 20

Ultraviolet - a vampire thriller starring the very HOT Milla Jovovich, on Feb. 24

Silent Hill - another SCIFI-Horror based on a video game, on April 21

The Da Vinci Code - based on the worldwide best-seller by Dan Brown opens on May 19 (ok, this one is not technically SCIFI, but if you have read the book you could argue that the story does have a supernatural element to it… Judgment call)

The Messengers - a supernatural thriller from the Pang brothers, on Aug. 18

The Covenant - a supernatural fantasy drama opens on Sept. 8

Fox

X-Men 3 - another long awaited sequel by Brett Ratner opens on May 26

My Super Ex-Girlfriend - a comedy starring Uma Thurman, on July 14

Eragon - the film version of the fantasy best-selling book opens on Dec. 15

Perfect Creature - a SCIFI vampire movie that is not yet official scheduled but should open sometime in 2006

Warner

V for Vendetta – A Wachowski brothers' film (need I say more?) opens on March 17

Superman Returns - Bryan Singer's highly anticipated rethinking of the classic story opens on June 29

Lady in the Water – The latest M. Night Shyamalan SCIFI-fantasy suspense film opens on July 21

The Visiting - an alien invasion story staring Nicole Kidman opens on Aug. 11

The Reaping – A supernatural thriller starring Hilary Swank opens in October (the exact date is TBD)
