Updated 12/09/05 - The 4400 will return!... Again.
The 4400 has been renewed for a 3rd season starting summer 2006! USA network has picked up 13 new one-hour episodes for which production begins early 2006 in Vancouver, and all cast members are expected to return.
The 4400 started out as an Emmy-nominated miniseries and became a regular series in 2004. Since then the 4400 has gone on to be receive several additional nominations and awards in its two subsequent seasons.
The 4400 tells the stories of the 4400 abductees who are returned to earth in a ball of light not having aged physically or memory of their lost time, many having been missing for years. Some of the “returnees” have manifested unique new abilities ranging from enhanced precognition to the ability to heal by touch. An organization called NTAC (National Threat Assessment Command) is the government agency responsible for keeping track of the 4400 returnees and investigating all of the inexplicable events related to the 4400 and is the common thread that weaves their stories together from episode to episode.

We are definitely using the last two episodes of last season, 'The Fifth Page' and 'Mommy's Bosses,' as the engine to drive this season," Behr said in an interview. "In other words, last year we kind of alternated kind of big mythology type of episodes ... [with episodes in which] we'd introduce the 4400, they would have a problem that either affected them or affected society in general, and we would deal with that problem. ... What we're going to be focusing on basically this season [is] bigger sweep. I call it playing big ball rather than little ball. ... I think every story this year will have an impact on our people.Read the full article on the SCIFI Wire website.
Isabelle is no longer that cuddly kid you can hold in your arms, which is, I think, probably great for production... The character herself, I think, is going to surprise people. I think people have been arguing about or trying to figure out Isabelle at the end of the miniseries, and I think ... a portion of the audience is going to expect a fastball down the middle with her character, and I think they're going to be surprised. It's going to be more of a ride, more of a discovery, and not so clear-cut where you can say, 'She's the angel' [or] 'She's the devil,' you know? And I think that makes for really nice storytelling." - Ira Steven Behr, co-creator of The 4400

To summarize:
- Isabelle (all Grown-up now, as you may recall from the season 2 finally) is seen in Lily and Richard's suite reading the U-V volumes of an encyclopedia, implying that she has already read all of the previous volumes. It seems that most people are a bit freaked out by Isabelle (including Shawn) because they don't understand her rapid development and wonder about the extent of her power.
- Shawn tries to get some answers from Isabelle about the death of the three men who had been chasing Lily, Richard, and Isabelle, in the woods (likely trying to determine whether or not she is dangerous or evil in some way).
- At some point Isabelle leaps from a five story window, and quickly recovers.
- And we find out that Lily is rapidly aging, and is in danger of dying.
